Welcome to Little Golden Book Studio, or at least its online manifestation. We’ve been making music here since 2004, when we moved to Portland, and since then we’ve recorded everything from full rock bands to solo cello.

Sonically speaking, our aesthetic tends towards the vintage. Mostly older microphones, mostly tube-powered preamps and compressers (you can read more on the gear page). This doesn’t mean that everything we record sounds as though it were 1955, but we do find that the sonic quality is a pleasing antidote to sterile-sounding digital-only recordings.

We’re aware that Portland has more than its fair share of excellent recording studios, and our rates reflect this reality. Many artists who’ve worked here tell us the space feels “natural,” “relaxing” and “like home.” If you’re looking for a calm, clean and peaceful space in which to record your next musical project, consider dropping us a line.
